Jason: Jason was born and raised most of his life in San Antonio and the surrounding Hill Country. As a 7th grader Jason surrendered his life to Jesus at a Disciple Now event held at what would later become his home church. During his sophomore year of high school Jason became part of a church family for the first time and God began doing an amazing work in his life. Over the coming years Jason’s family would become active members at FBC Boerne and have their own experiences with Jesus as well.
After surrendering to a call to pursue vocational ministry in high school Jason attended and graduated from college at Dallas Baptist University. While there he was greatly impacted by being on staff with YoungLife in Arlington and developed a heart and love for relational ministry and discipleship.
Following college in the fall of 2002, Jason joined the staff of his home church, FBC Boerne, and over the coming years served in multiple churches in various ministry positions including Student Pastor, Family Pastor, Minister of Education, and Minister of Evangelism. During this time he finished a Master’s of Arts degree with a Biblical Studies concentration at Liberty Theological Seminary.
God’s greatest joys have come through his family starting with Jason’s beautiful wife Mindy, who is a true partner in ministry with Jason, encouraging and challenges him more than anyone else in his life. In addition, they have been blessed with three beautiful children Dylan, Andrew, and his princess Sarah. Jason shares regularly about how God has used his family to teach him truths about God and life that he could only really understand through the experience of being a husband and father.
Jason says, “I believe in God and truth, and even though my greatest ability is making a fool out of myself, I try the best I can to live a life of truth, conviction, and love that demonstrates the God I know and love. My life has been good, hard, fun, crazy, sad, and fantastic. If I could go back and change the events of my past, my life would probably end up much the same. God is consistently teaching me and changing me. Each day I seem to be learning more about grace, how to receive it, how live in it, and how to extend it to others. My ministry could probably be defined by the word freedom, and teaching people about the freedom one can find in Jesus. Not freedom to do whatever you want, but the freedom to be who you were made to be.”
